Ever since I heard about a Darth Vader Toaster being released onto the unsuspecting Star Wars fandom, I had a bad feeling about it, as if a million slices of bread all cried out in terror, and were suddenly burnt.
I also felt this strip needed some colour.
Sadly, this actually happened two Saturdays ago, at the booth which I run at Frank and Son Collectible Show. The guy went on his “I hate Family Guy” rant for half an hour, whilst also ranting about other bizarre things. He stated if he ever met anyone that looked or was like Peter Griffin, he’d kill the person.
The most crazy thing was, the guy must never have seen his own reflection, as he was like a shorter, older version of said target of his wrath.
Wow, GI Joe was a pure and simple exercise in making a movie based on an existing toy-line. It was cut and dry. But, somehow, Hollywood messed it all up. It was like handing the reins of a merchandising juggernaught over to a bunch of under 8′s with ADD. It wound up being all hype and explosions, quite like Paramount Pictures’ other movie based on another Hasbro owned toy franchise, Transformers.
Just got bored a little, today, and decided to get a strip and put a bit of colour into it. Yes, I spell colour with a “u” in it, as I’m British. But, anyhow, just a little try-out, nothing more. Not sure when the strip will go fully colour. But, we’ll all let fate decide that one.
I’m trying to get back into a regular thing with the strip after returning from San Diego Comic-Con, but as I’m also trying to juggle other things, I think for awhile the strips will temporarily be a Mon-Wed-Friday thing, like Penny Arcade does. It’ll give me time to do new scripts and get ahead with the art chores. It’ll also give me a chance to perhaps change things round a bit and get it into a new look for next year.
This should not be too long, perhaps only a few weeks, but it’ll be back upto five times a week very quickly.
